Wander through Ellis County Courthouse Square and Waxahachie’s historic downtown, which contains one of the finest concentrations of turn-of-the-century commercial architecture in the state. Our Downtown Walking Tour highlights Waxahachie’s unique commercial architecture, historic landmarks, and Texas Historical Medallions.

Take the Scenic Route Through History

Hit the road and explore Waxahachie’s historic neighborhoods from the comfort of your car. Our Driving Tour covers an extensive route through the city’s most notable residential and commercial areas.

Ellis County Courthouse

Take a self-guided historic tour of the magnificent Ellis County Courthouse in downtown Waxahachie! Pick up your map on the main floor sign-in table, and experience the history held within these walls! Guided tours are also provided during the Christmas Tour of Homes weekend (held on the second weekend of December) and during the Gingerbread Trail Tour of Homes (held on the first weekend in June), and for other special events and for large groups on an ad-hoc basis with advance scheduling as available.

Red Caboose

See all the work we’ve done to completely restore the Red Caboose in downtown Waxahachie! Guided tours are located near the MKT Depot during special events downtown and on an ad hoc basis.

Wyatt Office and Calaboose

Experience the fascinating history of Waxahachie’s Calaboose and the Wyatt Office, two of the oldest commercial buildings still standing in Waxahachie, located across from 216 N. College Street. Visit Singleton Park and read the markers sharing the history of these two unique buildings!
